Terms of use

A set of static files that, loaded into your browser, let you paint over part of a photograph and have the surrounding pixels synthesised in its place. It comes exactly as it stands, carrying no warranty whatsoever, and with no undertaking that it will be reachable, that it will produce a result of any particular quality, or that it will go on existing.

They remain yours entirely. No rights over them are claimed, requested or implied by using this page, and none could be transferred in any case, because no picture ever leaves your device. The file you open is not modified; what you save is a new file written by your own browser.

The tool has no opinion about the picture in front of it, which means the judgement is entirely yours. Taking a visible mark off an image you have no licence for does not give you a licence for it. Altering a photograph that is being relied on as a record — of a property, an injury, an event, a transaction — and presenting it as unaltered may be illegal wherever you are. Removing a person from a photograph of a group is between you and them.

Nothing here is legal advice. Where a real question of rights or evidence exists, the answer comes from somebody qualified and not from a page about pixels.

So far as the law permits, nothing is owed for any harm that follows from using this page or from anything made with it — a photograph whose only copy went through here included. Keep the original. The page never touches it, and it is the only version of the picture that still contains what you painted over.

Advertising here will come through Google, under their terms and whatever their advertising controls are set to, and saying so is not contingent on it having started. No advert is being served at the moment: this domain is not yet approved and the switch that renders a placement is off. Links to other sites, where they appear, are editorial, and no responsibility is taken for what sits at the other end of one.

English and Welsh law applies to everything above, and any argument about it belongs to the courts of England and Wales.
